Top News and Magazines Apps on Android in Portugal Q4 2021

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the top news and magazines applications on the Android platform in Portugal showcased notable trends in downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top 5 apps based on Sensor Tower data.

CNN Portugal, released by Media Capital, saw a fluctuating download trend. Starting with 9.1K downloads in the week of November 22, the app experienced a significant drop to 335 downloads by mid-December. However, it rebounded impressively, peaking at 12.9K downloads in the final week of December.

TV listings Portugal CisanaTV+ by Gianluca Cisana showed a steady increase in downloads as the quarter progressed. Weekly downloads surged from 194 in late September to a remarkable 22.5K by the last week of December, highlighting a strong upward trend.

SQUID - News & Magazines observed consistent growth in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads climbed from 290 in late September to 4.3K by the end of December. Active users also increased steadily, starting at 6.5K in late September and reaching 11.3K by the end of the quarter.

SAPO, published by MEO – Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia, S.A., experienced a gradual rise in downloads. Beginning with 219 downloads in late September, the app saw a peak of 4K downloads in the final week of December, indicating a growing user base.

PT Notícias ( Jornal ) by Zclouds Media had a notable spike in weekly downloads towards the end of Q4. Starting at just 12 downloads in late September, the app achieved a significant increase to 5.6K downloads in the last week of December.
